WELCOME TO THE CITY OF DANA, IOWA

The small town with a big heart!

Tucked away in the heart of Greene County, Dana is a community where neighbors are friends and every story matters. Though our city may be small in size, our history runs deep and our sense of pride is even deeper. From our early days as a vibrant railroad town to the close-knit community we are today, Dana is a place where tradition, resilience, and hometown spirit shine bright. Whether you’re a lifelong resident or a curious visitor, we invite you to explore our past, celebrate our present, and be part of our future.

HISTORICAL RECORDS! Dana lost most of its records during the Great Flood of 1993. That event flooded the space being used as the City Council’s meeting area, and as a result, nearly every historical record was destroyed. Some census books remain, along with one book listing the minutes of City Council meetings from the 1910s through the 1950s. Click here to see the archive we are building of these records. This is a volunteer effort and it will take some time to complete.
