September 2025 saw some road work completed in Dana. Six pallets (almost 7 tons) of “cold pack” rock asphalt were delivered to Dana for the project, with the goal of filling in some of the worst areas of road degradation in the city. Mandy, Tony, and Sean made a trial run with one pallet on the 18th, using a skid-steer graciously loaned by the Crouse family for the project. It was determined that the loader wasn’t big enough to handle an entire pallet of material, so the city needed to rent one from Rueter’s in Grand Junction to finish the project.
The telehandler from Rueter’s arrived on Sunday the 21st, and work began on Monday the 22nd. Three more pallets of material were spread that day, with the remaining 2 pallets spread on Tuesday the 23rd. New Dana resident Luke joined us for part of Monday’s work and all of Tuesday’s work. That extra pair of hands was greatly appreciated!
We also need to thank Juhl Feed, Inc. for allowing us to store the material in one of their buildings, and for the use of their forklift to get the material loaded into the telehandler.
